A Great Day in South LA is a Black-owned, woman-founded cultural experience company dedicated to exploring the history, legacy, and continued evolution of Black Los Angeles. We design thoughtfully curated small-group and private experiences for visitors and locals alike — including educators, senior groups, families, and community organizations. Each experience is founder-led and rooted in research, storytelling, and lived context. Through intentional pacing and neighborhood immersion, guests gain a deeper understanding of the people, places, and enduring contributions that shape South Los Angeles.


Crenshaw District Tour

2.5 Hours –  Book Online

This signature Black history experience explores the cultural core of South Los Angeles and offers an engaging, accessible introduction to Black LA history, entrepreneurship, architecture, and community life. The tour is primarily a guided driving experience through the Crenshaw corridor and surrounding neighborhoods, with curated stops that allow you to step out, walk, and fully experience the environment — including time in Leimert Park Village, the historic arts and cultural heart of Black Los Angeles.

Along the way, you will encounter iconic murals and public art, architecturally significant homes, legacy businesses, and cultural landmarks that have shaped the identity of the city. Through layered storytelling and historical context, the experience connects past and present — illuminating the people, movements, and everyday visionaries who continue to define the heartbeat of Black Los Angeles.

Lunch is included as part of the cultural experience. Rather than a standard meal stop, guests enjoy food from respected, independently owned establishments that reflect the culinary legacy and entrepreneurial spirit of the corridor. Depending on availability, your meal will be sourced from one of the following neighborhood staples:

  • Taco Pete’s – Home of the iconic LA Black Taco

  • Earle’s Hot Dogs – Known for classic local hot links and beloved vegan options

  • Chef Marilyn’s – Counter-service soul food rooted in tradition

The experience also includes a sweet stop at either All Chill, a Black-owned ice cream shop known for inventive flavors, or Southern Girl Desserts, a neighborhood bakery with deep community roots.

This extended South Los Angeles experience offers a deeper exploration of the Westside of South LA and neighboring communities, weaving together Black history, entertainment legacy, architecture, and contemporary transformation.

Guests will enjoy a guided driving tour through historic residential enclaves and cultural corridors while engaging with stories of Black Hollywood, generational wealth-building, civic leadership, and the forces that have shaped the area across decades. The experience provides expanded historical context, connecting early 20th-century migration and mid-century cultural power to present-day development and reinvestment.

Highlights include traveling through the Crenshaw District, visiting neighborhoods known for architecturally significant homes, passing sites connected to Black film and television history, and exploring Inglewood — home to some of Los Angeles’ newest and most prominent stadiums and entertainment venues. Murals and Monuments of South LA Highlights Tour

Designed for guests seeking an in-depth, visually rich exploration of Los Angeles’ urban art landscape, this signature private experience offers a curated journey through some of the city’s most powerful murals, monuments, and public installations.

Traveling across South Los Angeles and beyond, this tour reveals how large-scale public art serves as a living archive — documenting cultural leadership, neighborhood identity, activism, remembrance, and creative expression. Each location is intentionally selected and thoughtfully contextualized so that both the artwork and the surrounding community help tell a layered story of Los Angeles.

From the Crenshaw District to MidCity, Downtown Los Angeles, Watts, and Compton, guests encounter iconic works honoring figures such as Kobe Bryant and Nipsey Hussle, alongside monumental neighborhood murals that define entire corridors. The experience highlights how art functions not only as tribute, but as resistance, pride, and collective memory.

LARGE GROUP BOOKINGS (7 people and above): If you are bringing a larger group, please contact us for customized group rates. We’re great for family reunions, corporate events, group outings, etc.  Pricing is determined based on group size, duration, and transportation logistics — including whether A Great Day in South LA provides the vehicle or your organization supplies its own vehicle and licensed driver.

A Great Day in South LA was created to honor this community — and we believe the people who live, work, and serve here should have access to its stories. If you are a nonprofit organization actively serving South Los Angeles, we invite you to reach out about our heavily discounted community tour program. We are able to host up to 9 guests when providing transportation, or accommodate larger groups (up to 50) if your organization provides the vehicle and driver. This offering is designed for organizations that are deeply rooted in South LA and bordering communities that are doing meaningful, on-the-ground work with residents, youth, families, or seniors.

To be considered, organizations must:

  • Actively serve the South Los Angeles community

  • Have 501c3 designation or be a community benefit organization (verified paperwork required)
  • Maintain an active website or public social media presence

  • Demonstrate a track record of delivering impactful programs or services in South LA
